The SR-71 Turnout Soap FamilyNorthwest Safety Clean's NFPA 1851 compliant turnout detergent is an anionic soap that reduces the electrostatic forces in your PPE's fibers. SR-71 reduces the toxic and foreign subsidies that compromise the integrity of fire protective gear by embedding in the fibers, all while possessing a neutral enough pH. Using SR-71 will lengthen the life of turnouts and will cut costs because the SR-71 soap line costs less than .25¢ per ounce! NFPA 1851 2008 Edition States: A.7.2.3.6(1) "Care must be exercised in the use of aggressive cleaning agents that contain active ingredients such as sodium percarbonate, found in oxy-type additives, and d-limonene, found in citrus-type additives and degreasers, as well as other solvents." 7.3.7(5) " A mild detergent with a pH range of not less than 6.0pH and not greater than 10.5pH as indicated on the product MSDS or original product container shall be used." It is important to know the pH level of the detergent you are using on your turnouts. A common mistake by departments is contacting a local soap/chemical company used by dry cleaners and laundry establishments... These companies recommend a 2-chemical process to clean turnouts:
This works very well to get white shirts whiter, but for turnouts the damage has begun - Damage will be best noticed by the loss of color to the fabric and the fabric hand (feel). SR-71 Turnout SpotterNorthwest Safety Clean's Spotter is a non-ionic solvent. It is unique in that it has an almost neutral pH which is mild to turnout fabrics. Soil build up on turnouts is a given and used to be taken care of with harsh chemicals. NO MORE. This stain remover uses a combination of soluble solvents to attack soil, tar, and greases that adhere to turnouts and PPE. It is safe, effective and easy on the maintenance budget. Stay away from harsh chemicals and bleaches, stay safe and clean with SR-71 Spotter!
